Whoop!

This weekend, we went to College Station to visit my friend, Jill, her husband, Weston, and two of our other friends from college - Kaitlin and Kathy. We also watched the Aggies Beat The Hell Outta UAB! It was a great game for us to go to because they scored a bunch of touchdowns and played really well. Also, we had fantastic seats - right in the end zone, five rows up. We had a great time seeing everyone. We don't get together nearly enough, so it's always nice to get to hang out and laugh a lot.

A&M recently got a new statue; an exact replica of an Aggie ring. Here is a picture of Tim and I in it.
Another new (I think?) statue they have of interlocking Aggie rings. Sometimes people have drawings of this whenever they marry another Aggie (my dad and Nancy have one!). This is me, Jill, and Kaitlin in the ring. I thought this was cute/funny even though I don't like the way I look in it.

I was really busy at work last week observing a murder trial. The jury deliberated on Friday and we got a guilty verdict. Today was the punishment phase and the jury gave him 99 years. I don't really want to go into a bunch of detail about it on here, but you can probably find an article about it on the Fort Worth Star Telegram's website tomorrow. Let's just say it was a really disturbing murder case and I think the guy deserved every second of the 99 years he got. I finish my internship on Wednesday. I've had SO much fun working at the DA and it has been really informative and interesting. I'm really going to miss working there when the intership is over.

Yesterday was viability day for Toots! That means that, if he were born from now on, the doctors would do everything they could to save him and he has a much higher (basically a chance at all) of living now. Of course we don't want him to come for a LONG time but it's nice to know he would be taken care of if he was born now.

Tim called this week to find out how much it's going to be to add baby to our insurance whenever he is born and also told them we wanted to add maternity coverage to our insurance (I'm not sure if I've mentioned it before, but we didn't have maternity coverage for this pregnancy so we are just paying out of pocket for everything). We have Blue Cross Blue Shield and they informed Tim that they don't offer any sort of maternity coverage in Texas! I couldn't believe it. Unfortunately, now we are having to see about getting different insurance. Bummer.

Here is the weekly belly picture. I can't tell if I got bigger or not? My arm is up higher than last week so that may make a difference. Do y'all think it looks like I got any bigger? Nothing bad is happening so far...My back hurts often so that's probably the biggest deal. Brendan kicks a lot lately. Enough to where, if he hasn't kicked in awhile, I start noticing it and squeezing my belly a little to wake him up :)

And here is what's going on with baby this week:

Your baby's growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts him at just over a pound. Since he's almost a foot long (picture an ear of corn), he cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but his body is filling out proportionally and he'll soon start to plump up. His brain is also growing quickly now, and his taste buds are continuing to develop. His lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help his air sacs inflate once he hits the outside world. His skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon.

How was your weekend? Anything exciting happen?

1. One week ago I was moving stuff over to the new apartment.

2. I used to play school and make my Papa (grandfather) be the student when I was young.

4. It's nice to know there's always you and me.

5. Take your time enjoying the moment.

6. The Aggies will pass!

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to heading to College Station to visit with friends, tomorrow my plans include hanging out with friends and going to the A&M football game and Sunday, I want to get home quickly because I hate long drives!

Movin' on...Down

As I mentioned in the last post, we moved this weekend from a third floor apartment to a first floor apartment. Yes, that's three moves since March 1st. We moved out of the house we were renting when we got robbed near the end of March and moved into the third floor apartment on April 1st. When I found out I was pregnant, I decided it was going to be very difficult to cart a baby, stroller, groceries, etc. up three flights of stairs and it was also going to be a big hassle to gather up the baby everytime Tucker (our Yorkie) wanted to go outside. The first floor apartment has a yard, so I can just open the door and let him out. We're totally moved in and everything is put away except we still have to hang the curtains and pictures. We also got the baby bed put together but I don't want to post pictures of it until I actually have the nursery finished more.

That's pretty much all we did this weekend is move and we also went to a baby shower for Sarah, who I have mentioned several times on this blog. She and her husband, Jamie, are adopting not one, but TWO babies in the next few months. Peyton (a girl) is due in November and Baby #2 is due in January and they will find out whether it is a boy or a girl in the next few weeks. We had a great time at the shower and it was awesome to finally meet Sarah in person after "knowing" her online for a long time.

This week is my last full week of my internship. It's over next Wednesday. I'm getting to watch a murder trial this week so it's really exciting. I've really enjoyed the internship and feel like I've learned a lot.

Toots is moving a ton lately. I feel him all throughout the day and when I wake up at night. Now it's getting to the point where I can see my belly move from the outside when he kicks. For my belly picture this week, my shirt I usually wear was dirty so I had to put on a different one. I don't think I look much bigger this week, but we'll see what y'all think.

And here's what's going on with baby this week (ignore it saying "she"):

Turn on the radio and sway to the music. With her sense of movement well developed by now, your baby can feel you dance. And now that she's more than 11 inches long and weighs just over a pound (about as much as a large mango), you may be able to see her squirm underneath your clothes. Blood vessels in her lungs are developing to prepare for breathing, and the sounds that your baby's increasingly keen ears pick up are preparing her for entry into the outside world. Loud noises that become familiar now — such as your dog barking or the roar of the vacuum cleaner — probably won't faze her when she hears them outside the womb.
Hope everyone had a great weekend and the week is starting off well so far. Sorry for all the delays in posting!

Wire-less

We have DirectPath (basically the same company as DirecTV but for apartment communities) at our apartment and the people who lived in our new apartment didn't cut their service off until Friday. So, that meant we couldn't transfer our existing service to the new apartment. Great. Which, overall, means they can't come until tomorrow (Tuesday) to set up our internet and TV so I can't post a blog update until tomorrow.

Sorry for the lack of posts! The frequency will resume shortly :)

Hope everyone had a nice weekend!

Yikes!

Where did the week go?! Sorry for not posting when I said I would.

I'm going to skip the belly pic and update this week since I'll be posting another one on Sunday. We are moving this weekend to a first floor apartment and also going to a baby shower, so it will be a busy weekend.

We went to a consignment sale in McKinney last night. It was a JBF (Just Between Friends) Sale - you can google it if you are confused. Anyway, we had to drive an hour and a half to get there because of the traffic and I have to say I was pretty disappointed. From the website, I thought they were going to have A LOT more big items and there really wasn't a big selection at all. Because we drove so long, we really wanted to get something so we got a few clothes, some burp cloths, some books, and a play-time blanket that came in it's original package and is compact so we will probably keep it in the car to use when we go to people's houses. I have heard one of the consignment sales around here called Divine Consign is a really awesome one, but I didn't know about that one ahead of time when it occurred a month or so ago so I wasn't able to go to it.

We are watching the season premieres of Bones and Fringe tonight on Fox. Love those shows!

Hope everyone is having a good week and I promise not to take so long to post next week!!

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and didn't get soaked!

Google Ignoring 9/11

Two posts today...

I just read an article about how Google doesn't commemorate 9/11 on the search engine page with the logo. I've actually been on Google a couple times today but hadn't thought about it. They commemorate things like the first hot air balloon flight, or Andy Warhol's birthday, but apparently 3,000 people dying in our country isn't a big enough deal for them to change the logo for today. Ask.com as well as bing.com both have commemorative pictures on their sites today.

Google also just started acknowledging Veteran's Day for the first time after receiving a number of complaints. This just really angers me. I don't forget 9/11 every year and neither does most of the country, according to news articles and the statuses I've seen on facebook today. Why would Google not commemorate something like this? I've seen them do a lot of tasteful and beautiful logo changes for various holidays and anniversaries, so I know they could do one for this.

I just think it's kind of a slap in the face for all those who lost their lives and all the soldiers fighting for our freedom and in the War on Terror for Google not to acknowledge this day. If I knew how I could contact them to complain, I would do it.

Thoughts?

Friday Fill-Ins

1. That's a silly way to be.

2. Hey, look up from my belly; I'm over here!

3. The possibilities include: everything under the sun.

4. Chili from www.jasonandshawnda.com/foodiebride is one of my favorite cool day recipes.

5. How will you know when to let go?

6. Lots of lightning and a stormy sky.

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to relaxing, tomorrow my plans include registering for baby stuff and Sunday, I want to go to church, lounge around, and watch the Cowboy's game!

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Little Late, Big Belly

I'm a little late with my weekly post. The holiday kind of threw me off because my mom came in town for the weekend and stayed Sunday night and then yesterday just seemed to fly by too quickly. Friday, my mom came in town and we just hung out for awhile.

Saturday, we went shopping and got some adorable outfits for Toots. Also, my mom is going to cross stitch a Christmas stocking for his first Christmas next year. They take a year to make and you have to have them turned in to be made into a stocking by October, so she's got just over a year to make it. We bought it at a store here in Fort Worth called The French Knot - it's really beautiful. We picked one out that wasn't baby-ish so he will be able to use it forever. I also got a really cute little bunny cross stitch that says "Baby Sleeping" on it. The only time I've done a cross stitch is in 7th or 8th grade, so it's been awhile but it has been pretty easy so far. I'm enjoying it and hope to get it done in the next couple of weeks or so. We also went to dinner at a place here in Fort Worth called Bonnell's. It was absolutely DELICIOUS! Seriously, I can't remember the last time I had a steak that good. It was a filet with poblano tasso cream sauce on it with chipotle mashed potatoes. We also all got roasted tomato jalapeno soup that was really good and creme brulee and apple tart skillet (or something like that). My mom got lamb and Tim got a buffalo tenderloin. Everything was fabulous.

Sunday, we went to Home Depot to get some new pulls for the changing table/dresser we got from Tim's dad and stepmom and did a few other things. We made hamburgers and sweet potatoe fries for dinner. It was really nice having my mom visit and we had a great time.

Monday, Tim worked from home and I worked on the cross stitch. I went to the grocery store, we laid out by the pool for a little while, and went on a walk. I started doing my prenatal yoga again yesterday and I'm hoping to make sure I stick with it, as well as the walking every evening and we are going to try to start getting up early for Tim to lift weights and me to do the elliptical. I gain way too much weight at my last doctor's appointment, so I'm trying to keep it in check.

I think my belly popped out some more. Here's the 21 week picture:

And here's the update on Toots for the week. Oh, the weights are going to be off from now on, I guess, since he was so much heavier last week than all the books said (all the books/websites said 9 to 10 ounces for last week and he weighed 14.6 ounces at our appointment! He's bigggg ;)).

Your baby now weighs about three-quarters of a pound and is approximately 10 1/2 inches long — the length of a carrot. You may soon feel like she's practicing martial arts as her initial fluttering movements turn into full-fledged kicks and nudges. You may also discover a pattern to her activity as you get to know her better. In other developments, your baby's eyebrows and lids are present now, and if you're having a girl, her vagina has begun to form as well.

I have been feeling him a lot lately and Tim was able to feel him kick the other night as well. Tim has been reading stories to him most nights and we try to listen to classical music because that's supposed to make him smarter.

Here's a picture for this week:Hope everyone had a wonderful and relaxing Labor Day! Did anyone do anything exciting?

Little Boy Blue

Here are some of the recent purchases/gifts for baby Thorne. I promise I won't post everytime we buy something, but just this time since we just found out he's a boy :)

This is what Tim's mom bought us this weekend that I was talking about in Sunday's post. A&M pacifiers and a onesie. It's hard to see in the picture but it says "...then comes baby in a baby carriage."

This adorable little outfit is from a man I work with at the DA named Robert. He has a little girl and was disappointed that he wasn't going to be able to give us a bunch of little girl clothes that his daughter never wore. But, he found this one boy outfit in her closet and brought it to me today at work. Still has the tags on it since they have a girl and it is SO CUTE! You can't tell in the picture put the pants have little knee-pads on them!

This was the outfit we bought for Toots on Monday after the ultrasound. It's the first little boy thing we bought. I accidentally took the picture with the bottom of the one pant leg turned in, but they boy have the little cuff on the bottom and the cuff has little trains on it. The onesie and hat have a little train on them and the hat is reversible to be a train scene.

Last but not least, his first piggy bank! We thought the elephant was really sweet and different. I'm planning on getting a bank for each of the kids we have.

Hope everyone's week is going well so far! Thanks for all the sweet comments after the big announcement yesterday!
