This weekend, we went to College Station to visit my friend, Jill, her husband, Weston, and two of our other friends from college - Kaitlin and Kathy. We also watched the Aggies Beat The Hell Outta UAB! It was a great game for us to go to because they scored a bunch of touchdowns and played really well. Also, we had fantastic seats - right in the end zone, five rows up. We had a great time seeing everyone. We don't get together nearly enough, so it's always nice to get to hang out and laugh a lot.
A&M recently got a new statue; an exact replica of an Aggie ring. Here is a picture of Tim and I in it.
Another new (I think?) statue they have of interlocking Aggie rings. Sometimes people have drawings of this whenever they marry another Aggie (my dad and Nancy have one!). This is me, Jill, and Kaitlin in the ring. I thought this was cute/funny even though I don't like the way I look in it.
I was really busy at work last week observing a murder trial. The jury deliberated on Friday and we got a guilty verdict. Today was the punishment phase and the jury gave him 99 years. I don't really want to go into a bunch of detail about it on here, but you can probably find an article about it on the Fort Worth Star Telegram's website tomorrow. Let's just say it was a really disturbing murder case and I think the guy deserved every second of the 99 years he got. I finish my internship on Wednesday. I've had SO much fun working at the DA and it has been really informative and interesting. I'm really going to miss working there when the intership is over.
Yesterday was viability day for Toots! That means that, if he were born from now on, the doctors would do everything they could to save him and he has a much higher (basically a chance at all) of living now. Of course we don't want him to come for a LONG time but it's nice to know he would be taken care of if he was born now.
Tim called this week to find out how much it's going to be to add baby to our insurance whenever he is born and also told them we wanted to add maternity coverage to our insurance (I'm not sure if I've mentioned it before, but we didn't have maternity coverage for this pregnancy so we are just paying out of pocket for everything). We have Blue Cross Blue Shield and they informed Tim that they don't offer any sort of maternity coverage in Texas! I couldn't believe it. Unfortunately, now we are having to see about getting different insurance. Bummer.
Here is the weekly belly picture. I can't tell if I got bigger or not? My arm is up higher than last week so that may make a difference. Do y'all think it looks like I got any bigger? Nothing bad is happening so far...My back hurts often so that's probably the biggest deal. Brendan kicks a lot lately. Enough to where, if he hasn't kicked in awhile, I start noticing it and squeezing my belly a little to wake him up :)
And here is what's going on with baby this week:
Your baby's growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts him at just over a pound. Since he's almost a foot long (
picture an ear of corn), he cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but his body is filling out proportionally and he'll soon start to plump up. His brain is also growing quickly now, and his taste buds are continuing to develop. His lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help his air sacs inflate once he hits the outside world. His skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon.
How was your weekend? Anything exciting happen?
