Interesting Product of the Week - Vibram Five Fingers

I don't know anything about these shoes, but my friend (shoutout to Sandy) told me her boyfriend wants them for Christmas (minus the toenail polish, of course!) and I just found this picture on my cousin Jackie's facebook profile. They are called Vibram Five Fingers (http://www.vibramfivefingers.com/) and they are hailed as being the closest thing to going barefoot. There are different ones depending upon what you want to do in them - more to less heavy duty. Oh, and they were named one of the best inventions of 2007 by Time Magazine. They are a little pricey (between $70.00 and $90.00) if you are hardly ever going to wear them, but they would definitely be an awesome conversation starter and they look super comfortable!

Weekend and Job Updates

Hope everyone had a nice weekend! We really enjoyed the A&M game, although it was quite obvious we don't have a very good time. It was nice to attend a game where we got a win, even though it was not the blowout we might have hoped it would be. We very much enjoyed our weekend in College Station. It was the first time since I attended A&M that we have spent an entire weekend there.

Friday, we got in pretty late because Tim's truck was in the shop and we were waiting to pick it up before we left. So, we got there about 8:30 and went to dinner with my cousin, Nathan, who goes to A&M and who we were staying with. We went to Cafe Capri in downtown Bryan, which is one of my favorite restaurants. If you ever happen to be in Bryan/College Station and are looking for somewhere to eat, I would HIGHLY recommend going there. It is an Italian restaurant owned by a former student and has a mix of family recipes and ones the owner has created himself. I got the Bowtie Affair, which is a mix of different colors of bowtie pasta, grilled chicken, feta cheese, and a cajun cream sauce. It is delicious! After dinner we just went back to Nathan's and watched It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and went to bed early.

Saturday, we got up a little after 8:00 and went to our friends Mike and Megan's tailgate party before we went to the game. We stayed for the whole game and then went back to the tailgate for a little while. We went back to Nathan's to change and then went over to our friends Aaron and Kristen's grandparents house for dinner with Kristen's family. Everyone was very nice and the dinner was absolutely great! We had a really fun time. After dinner, we went out to Northgate with Kristen and Aaron and went to Dry Bean for a few shots and then to The Chicken. After that, Tim and I had to go get some Pokey Stix at Gumby's - one of our favorite places for late night food.

Today we are back in Waco and back to the real world. Tim is working on answers letters from inmates at the county jail - he has a second job where inmates write him letters with legal questions and he has to answer them. He is paid by the county because there is not a legal library at the jail here and the inmates have a Constitutional right to have answers to legal questions. I am working on homework for school this week.

As for a job update, Tim had his interview in Fort Worth on Friday and felt it went really well. He spent an hour and a half talking with the man who is considering hiring him and then got a thirty minute tour of the facility. He is still extremely excited about the job and hopes very much he will get a chance to work at the company. The man who interviewed him said he was going to call two to three people back for a second interview and he would let Tim know whether he wanted him to come back in a week or two. So, please continue to pray for him with this job! I should find out tomorrow when I will know about whether I got a call back for the Harris County DA.

That was a pretty long update! Again, hope everyone had a great weekend and hope y'all have a great start to the week!

Interview and Knee Issues

I had an interview today with the Harris County (Houston) District Attorney's Office for a job as an Assistant District Attorney when I graduate. It was nice to interview with a DA's office so I will know what to expect in the future. I thought the interview went pretty well, but I can never tell if they like me enough to give me a call back. Usually, they decide within two weeks who they are going to call back and who they aren't. We'll see what happens! I definitely want to work for a DA's office and be a prosecutor, so I will look anywhere necessary until I can find a job with one.

Yesterday, I went to the doctor for a follow up from an MRI I had last week. About two months ago I hurt my knee running and have been having problems since. The doctor thought I had a torn meniscus and so he sent me for an MRI last Thursday. The MRI didn't end up showing anything, so he is know 90% sure I have Illiotibial Band Syndrome. This is a tendon that runs from your need to your hip. He said he only sees about 4 or 5 cases of it a year and it is usually in women runners. The bad thing is, its very difficult to get rid of. I have to start therapy next week for the next 4 weeks, going 2 to 3 times a week and I cannot workout my legs at all during this time period. I am definitely going to have to watch my calorie intake with this very reduced workout ability! Hopefully the physical therapy will correct the problem and it won't be something that keeps coming back. I didn't realize how much I would miss running when I couldn't do it so I am looking forward to being able to get back into it.

I am very execited about the season premiere of Grey's Anatomy tonight! My friend Stephanie is coming over to have dinner and watch it with me. She is bringing her little Maltese named Calli. She is really fun, but Tucker (our Yorkie) is such a loner that he won't play with her sometimes. It's annoying! I am hoping the premiere will be good but I am already disappointed they are making Derek's old girlfriend Rose be pregnant. I was really hoping they would finally let he and Meredith be together.

Tim has his interview in Fort Worth tomorrow at 10:30 AM, so please be thinking of him! He will leave tonight and go stay with his friend Tennessee, who lives in Fort Worth, so he won't have to worry about traffic or anything tomorrow. I'll post again on Sunday after we've gone to the A&M game and give an update on the weekend and his interview.

Christmas Cards

Tim and I got our very first Christmas cards made! We were SO pleased with the result, so I wanted to share Meg's information with everyone so y'all could get them made, too. She actually has a picture of what she made for us on her website. Of course, I will also be sending them to family and friends when it comes closer to the holidays. She is VERY reasonable and only charges $25 for a one-sided card and asks lots of great questions to find out exactly what you want. Go check her out and get something made!

Weekend Overview

Tim and I had a pretty quite weekend this week. We decided to stay home for the weekend because it seems we are always on the go.
Friday we went and saw Burn After Reading (see review below), went to dinner, and to a new wine bar here in Waco called Austin's on the Avenue. It has a really cool vibe and a great patio. It's probably the nicest bar in Waco and helps to feel less like you are actually in Waco. It is more like a Dallas bar.
Saturday, we watched the Aggies get smoked by Miami and then went to dinner and back to Austin's with some friends. Today we just went to church and Tim went over to help my dad with an Operations Manual he has been working on and I have been doing homework.
We are going to watch the A&M v. Army game next weekend and I really hope the Aggies figure out what happened this weekend and correct it before we are there. We usually only get to go to one game a year at this point, so I hate to think we might be going to one we are going to lose! On a happier note, we are really excited to get to spend the night in College Station after the game and go out with friends because we haven't gotten to do that in College Station in a long time.
I guess that's about all! Hopefully we will have some more exciting news to come as Tim has a job interview this week and so do I. We are more crossing our fingers for his interview than we are for mine because he has been looking for a job for quite a while, so please keep us in your prayers this week.
Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Burn After Reading Review

Tim and I went and saw "Burn After Reading" tonight. We decided we would both do reviews of the movie.

I thought the movie was funny, but in a "dark" way. At times, it was very disturbing. With an all-star cast, the acting was really great. I think the purpose of the movie was to show how self-centered and selfish people are, to the point they will throw anyone else under the bus to get what they want. All of the named actors were the main characters in the movie and they are all intertwined. I would recommend it to people, but be prepared for it to be a little darker than what you would expect after seeing the previews.

The movie makes you laugh and has the feel of a comedy the whole way through, until it suddenly becomes shockingly violent and you have to feel guilty about laughing. Brad Pitt and Clooney are of course fun characters, although I think Clooney may be playing who he actually is is in real life. Malkovich is always funny when he is angry and cussing like he is in every movie he participates. It is well made and short so I would recommend it, besides there is nothing else out that is any good. So g'day.

Welcome!

We decided that it would be fun to start a blog to keep up with family and friends and document our journey from law school into the real world of working and our life as a married couple. I will try to keep up with this regularly to keep everyone posted about fun things going on with us. Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy it!
